Setting Up a Dome Tent

AddThis Social Bookmark Button A dome tent is considered one of the more basic designs for a tent. These tents are the most common type in Singapore.

Certain unique advantages they have includes being free standing and being 4 sided, making sleeping positions more easy to arrange.

We will go through on how to pitch up the Iguania 4-men dome tent properly.

Step 1:

Choose a good spot to pitch up your tent. Read General Tips in Choosing a Campsite for more information.

A person could setup the tent, but it would be easier with 2 people. Expect to spend around 10 minutes to setup the tent.

Weave the tent pole through the tent and clip it to the base

Step 2:

Layout the tent. Stretch out the bottom so you know exactly where the tent will be.

Tie and clip to the poles and use the pegs

Step 3:

Attach the tent poles. You will thread the poles through the sleeves on the tent. Once both poles are fully through, slot the ends into the keys as shown. The tent is now erected.

Tips:
Avoid straining the poles by either putting too much stress on each piece (eg. lifting the whole pole by carrying it from it's end) or bending it too much. You will definately stretch the elastic cords and may break or splinter the poles.

Step 4:

Now the tent is up, secure it properly to the poles. You need to tie the top and then clip all clips to the poles. After doing this, stretch the base of the tent to its maximum. Now peg the tent down. You need to peg all 4 corners and the front and back as well.

The tent itself is now fully setup.

 Set up the fly sheet

Step 5:

Attach the fly sheet. You should hook the fly sheet to all 4 corners. Once done, attach the ridge tent pole which goes over the center of the tent. Remember to coax it into the slot rather than using brute force. You should proceed to velcro the fly sheet to the poles (shown on left).

Tie down the fly sheet for better water proofing

Step 6:

Peg down the guy lines at the sides. This will keep the fly sheet off the tent, making the waterproofing more effective as there will be 2 seperate layers.

 Attach the tent light

Step 7:

Attach the magnetic light. The light comes with 2 pieces, the light itself and the metal base. Adjust the metal base on the outside until you reach a location you would like the light to be. Then slot the light itself to the metal base. We recommend the light to be standing near the seams, to reduce stress on the fabric.
